Blogs are an addiction and an affliction.
I certainly don't NEED another place to pour my heart out, talk complete gobbledygook or bore the living hell out of other people. I've got far too many personal blogs and other outlets for my verbal diarrhea.
But you know, couldn't help it. Vox comes out, people talk about it and like a moth to the flame, here I am, poking around the neighbourhood, adding yet another channel of communication to my already-overwhelming collection. I need to figure out what parts I can RSS, so that I can read them directly from NetNewsWire.
Is the web 2.0 age also becoming an age of information overload? I want to blog so many things, contribute to so many wikis, forums, message boards and mailing lists. But how much of it is useful? That's questionable.
I probably wouldn't die if I didn't get the answer to questions I've asked on Shiny Fashion, but I'm quite enjoying the company and occasional social chat! Meanwhile, some marketing and new media lists or blogs I read really bring useful information to my attention on a regular basis*, information I wouldn't have acquired had it not been for the wonders of today's technology!
I'd like to say I'll try to cut down on the less useful feeds I read, the less informative conversations I have, but to Hell with it, I'm enjoying this information overload! I'm a child of the Internet age and I must embrace it. Probably wouldn't hurt to go play outside sometimes though...
[* Please note that in no way am I saying information on the new hottest deal from Primark is less valuable, Gemma!]
